About Us – Bihar Para Sports Association (BPSA)

The Bihar Para Sports Association (BPSA) is the officially recognized apex body for the promotion, regulation, and development of para-sports in Bihar. Formed on 1st April 2000 by Dr. Shivajee Kumar, former Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Government of Bihar, the BPSA operates as a non-profit, voluntary, and inclusive organization committed to empowering persons with disabilities through sports.

BPSA is registered under the Society Registration Act, 1860, and operates from its headquarters at:

Rajendra Nagar, Patna – 800016, Bihar

The Association functions under the purview of the Bihar Department of Art, Culture, and Youth Affairs, which on 25 January 2016, officially acknowledged the registration of the Paralympic Committee of Bihar under the β€œBihar Sports Association Registration, Recognition and Regulation Act, 2013” (Ref: Govt. Memo No. 3/2016).

As a State Paralympic body, BPSA adheres to the vision, guidelines, and ethics of the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), ensuring compliance with the National Sports Development Code (NSDC) issued by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

  • Promote year-round sports training and competitions for athletes with disabilities
  • Facilitate inclusive and accessible sport environments across Bihar
  • Train and certify coaches, officials, and volunteers as per PCI standards
  • Collaborate with educational and government bodies for para-sports integration
  • Advocate for infrastructure and policy support for inclusive participation
  • Organize State Para Games and facilitate participation in PCI and IPC events
  • Uphold transparency and ethics as per PCI's Code of Conduct
